Howard Smith started as a sole practitioner in early 1992, moving into the firm's current premises later that year.

After 7 years John Stimpson joined as a partner and the company truly became Howard Smith and Co.

Continued expansion of the practice resulted in Howard and John being joined by Richard Mann in 2003 and shortly thereafter the incorporation of the practice as Howard Smith and Co Ltd.
